Let’s dig in!

keyword research blog post tools

Research Tools

The first area I want to highlight that is probably one of the most important blog post tools is keyword research tools. Keyword research is a very important step in your blog writing process, and you really need to have a tool to help you take it a step even further! There are tons of free and paid keyword research tools on the market, but here are a few of them to consider.

  • SEMRUSH– suggests 5-10 very specific words about the topic you are writing.
  • Google Keyword Planner– a very simple yet accurate source of keyword data.
  • Uber Suggest– a popular blog post research tool that has a number of free searches per day. This one is a great option for beginners!

Along with your research tool, make sure you install an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO so that you can see your SEO score and improve your score based on the feedback it gives you.

Grammar Tools

There’s nothing worse for your blog post than a glaring spelling error. Though we are all human, and mistakes do happen, as blog writer’s we need to do everything we can to prevent grammatical errors. One of the best ways to do so is to use a grammar checking tool when producing any sort of blog or other copy.

Grammarly is probably my favorite blogging tool on this whole list. It helps you ensure proper grammar and spelling in your articles automatically! Great writing is key to executing your blog content strategy.

Want to get the most out of Grammarly? I suggest downloading the Grammarly browser extension which works inside of many platforms including email, Google docs, and WordPress.

Writing Tools

Writing blogs can be difficult if you don’t have the right tool. Google Docs is one of the best word processing tools and it’s 100% free. Once you have a Google account and an internet connection you can use Google Docs as a location to create articles for your blog. I like to write all of my blog posts in Google Docs before I transfer them over to WordPress. It’s super easy to use, all you have to do is click on a document template to start a new document and you’re on your way to new blog content.

If you have a bunch of writers on your team, Google docs is also a great blog tool to use because you can all be looking at and edit documents at the same time.

Graphic Tools

When creating your blog post, you have to come up with killer graphics that help your post stand out. Canva is probably the best tool on the web for creating custom images that you can then use either on social media or as part of your blog posts. Think, featured images, in-content images, etc. Basically, anything to make your blog more visually appealing. Canva has a free or pro version, so depending on how much you plan on using it, choose the best plan for you. Also keep in mind that you can utilize Canva’s template for so many other content creation such as social media posts, email templates, and more!

If you are looking for more stock photos, consider using Unsplash which has beautiful, free images and photos that you can download and use for any project.

Social Tools

Once you have your blog post ready to publish, it’s time to promote your new post! One of the best ways to do so is via social media. Later is one of the best scheduling apps where you schedule your content to automatically post, get insights on your posts, and so much more. I like Later because it is an all-in-one platform that helps small businesses and creators harness marketing, creation, and scheduling all in one place.
