What Should You Write About?

Gone are the days where blogging is mainly for talking about your day-to-day life or newest recipe. Those types of posts are still relevant, but educational blog posts continue to be on the rise. People want to LEARN more about topics they are interested in.

Whatever niche or industry you are in, you have people out there wanting to learn more about it. When you start blogging, teach them things that are hot topics in your field. If you still don’t know what to write about you can do research into what your competitors are writing about or better yet, ask your audience the type of content they want to see!

Understand the Essential Elements

Once you have your blog topic ready, it’s time to make an outline using these essential blog elements.

  • Choose a magnetic title that draws in the readers.
  • Pick out headers and subheaders that keep the readers interested.
  • Format your blog so that you have an informative and engaging flow.
  • Insert appealing graphics to add visual appeal to the topic.
  • Finish off your blog post with a call to action so your readers know what to do net.
  • Don’t forget to add a relevant internal link and external link within your blog.
  • Pull from your blog post to create a powerful meta description.

Utilize these elements to help you create a blog post that flows well and captures your audience’s attention from beginning to end.

Write for Humans, not for Robots.

Repeat after me: I must write for humans, NOT for robots. SEO is important! But so is speaking to your audience’s pain points in a way that truly resonates with them. While I use SEO best practices in my content, my main goal is to write FOR HUMAN BEINGS.

Here are a few tips to make sure you are speaking to your people:

  • Identify your audience and where they hang out. Figure out who you are talking to and where they spend most of their time!
  • Hit their pain points. Leverage your unique brand voice to speak to what matters to them. What problems do they have? How can you solve them?
  • Write like you speak. Literally, write like you talk. Avoid complex words or jargon to ensure your audience gets your point!
  • Use relatable examples. Get to know your audience and use examples that relate to their experience. This will help you connect and genuinely get their attention!

When you proofread and edit your content, take time to read your post to see if you would understand it if you were a newbie to the topic you are discussing. If you wouldn’t be able to understand it, you may want to go back in and edit it to be an easier read.

Take Time to Learn SEO

SEO can be a time-consuming thing to learn, but it really will help your blog get a further reach. SEO is all about the keywords. Make a list of keywords and use them throughout your blog. There are plenty of SEO courses you can take or even free content online for you to watch to learn more about the importance of SEO optimization in your blog post.
Make sure you are adding words in a way that is easy to read. Use your keywords, but in a natural and clever way… Don’t stuff your content with a bunch of nonsensical terms that almost feel like a translation gone wrong. People will notice!
