Scroll Stopping Instagram Bio

Is your Instagram Bio creating a great first impression? Are people stopping their scroll to read what you are all about? As Instagram continues to grow and become a must-have platform for all business owners, it’s important to understand how to appeal to anyone who lands on your Instagram profile. Keep reading to learn how to turn your plain Instagram bio into a scroll-stopping Instagram bio that will hopefully help you gain more followers!

7 Seconds

You may think that is an odd heading for a blog article, but I promise it is very relevant. When meeting someone for the first time, it only takes them 7 seconds to form their first impression of you. 7 -SECONDS! For the online world, it can be even shorter.

People have shortened attention spans, especially on social media so you really have to hook them in quickly or risk them to keep scrolling past your page on Instagram (and risking them going to your competitors instead).
So, if you’re using Instagram for your small business, you’ll want to make a good first impression with your Instagram bio, and use it to attract new followers and potential customers!

Strategy and Creativity

Writing a good Instagram bio might seem straightforward, but it actually requires some strategy and creativity. As I am writing this article there are currently 25 MILLION active business profiles on Instagram. That’s a lot of pages, but don’t let that deter you from creating a scroll-stopping bio for your own Instagram page.

So let’s dive into a few tips to help you with the strategy and creative process of creating your own Instagram bio.

It’s All In The Name

Can you believe that even Instagram utilizes keywords? One of the top places to utilize keywords in your bio is in the name field. The name field, in fact, makes up the first 30 characters of your Instagram bio and is key to helping with Instagram SEO.

When people search on Instagram, the words in the Name field are analyzed for matches. So if you want to rank well in searches from an Instagram SEO perspective, it is crucial you use keywords relevant to your niche in the name section.

Showcase Your Personality, Passions & Skills

Your Instagram bio needs to be very clear about what your business does and needs to be geared towards your target audience. Think about your skills or any experiences that might be of interest to potential followers. Your bio allows you to stand out from others in your industry, so make sure you take the time to highlight the important aspects!

Don’t shy away from showing off you or your brand’s personality. Being yourself is a great way to gain TRUST from your current and potential followers. Throw in some of your favorite/relevant emojis to help attract the eye to your bio. Incorporate brand-relevant hashtags to increase your chances of being featured on Instagram.

Instagram links

Don’t Forget Your Link!

This is probably the most important tip here. You have to have a link in your bio! Whether it is to your website, scheduling tool, or to something like Linktree, people need a way to learn more about your business. I suggest something like Linktree because it allows you to showcase several different URL links for people to go to. Take a peek at my Linktree for some Inspo!

What’s Next?

So you got someone to stop on your Instagram profile (congrats!), but what’s next? You need to make sure you have a clear call to action. Your viewers need to know what to do next. They already know to hit the follow button, but make sure you have crucial info like contact info readily available for them to use to stay connected with you. DM’s are great, but I suggest having at least your email as a way to contact you.
